Conference Objectives
SANKALPA 2026 is designed to deliver on five core objectives:
• Advance Citizenship Rights — Champion dual citizenship legislation, strengthen NRN legal identity in Nepal, and advocate for dignified treatment of all diaspora Nepalis, including Gurkha veterans and their families.
• Mobilize Investment — Identify concrete investment opportunities across hydropower, tourism, agriculture, and technology; simplify regulatory frameworks; and mobilize European NRN capital into Nepal's priority sectors.
• Build Strategic Partnerships — Foster joint ventures between European NRNs and Nepali entrepreneurs, align diaspora initiatives with national development priorities, and strengthen coordination between NCCs and the ERC.
• Empower Women and Youth — Create dedicated platforms for women's leadership, safe migration advocacy, and youth-driven innovation, ensuring the next generation assumes a central role in Nepal's transformation.
• Define a Long-Term Diaspora Vision — Establish a unified, actionable roadmap for NRN engagement in Nepal's socio-economic development extending through 2030 and beyond.
The cornerstone of SANKALPA is the fight for full, dignified citizenship recognition. The conference will host high-level dialogues on dual citizenship legislation, immigration simplification, and the rights of Nepali-origin individuals holding foreign nationalities. Special sessions will address the long-standing rights of Gurkha veterans and advocate for policy reforms that enable NRNs to fully participate in Nepal's civic, economic, and political life
Europe's Nepali diaspora represents enormous untapped investment potential. The conference will present specific, investor-ready opportunities across Nepal's key growth sectors and work to simplify the processes through which NRNs can commit capital. Priority areas include:
The Women Conference 2026, running alongside the main conference, will address the unique challenges and opportunities facing Nepali women in Europe and Nepal. Key discussions will focus on safe and dignified migration pathways, women-led entrepreneurship,
access to health services, legal protections, and creating strong support networks across European NRN communities.
The Youth Conference 2026 will ignite a new generation of NRN leaders. Sessions will explore youth-led IT innovation, sports development, entrepreneurship incubation, and digital transformation initiatives that connect young Nepalis, including second-generation in Europe, with opportunities back home. The conference will establish mentorship frameworks and create lasting youth-to-youth networks across the European NRN community
SANKALPA will deepen cooperation among European NCCs, align council initiatives with ERC priorities, and enhance institutional frameworks for more effective governance. The conference will establish improved systems for communication, resource-sharing, and collaborative project execution between Europe's NRN bodies and the global NRNA network.
