Youth Affairs, NRN Canada is pleased to invite proposal for paper presentation to its First Youth Conference on “Prosperous Nepal through Youth Leadership and Technology Transformation”.
Objective
Youth are the key to social transformation. The goal of this conference is to bring Nepalese Youth, Community members and Social leaders together to exchange ideas, and discuss the challenges and the potential roles of Nepalese youths in transforming the various dimensions of socio-cultural and professional domains for a prosperous Nepal. Academic and professional experience of Nepalese diaspora rich in scientific, technical, and several other professional skills are the useful resources for the development of Nepal. The conference will focus on encouraging our youth for leadership development and community services, and help develop their perspectives that is conducive to the development of Nepal through technological transformation.
Presentation Topics:
Presentations may include but are not limited to the following topics of interest:
Professional knowledge Network
Economic development and infrastructures; Electricity, Transportation, Communication
Health, Education, Literacy, and Tourism
Science, Engineering, and Technology
Socio-political and cultural transformation
International migration (Foreign employment, brain drain, and immigration)
Youths in their 11th Grade to 4th year Undergraduate studies are eligible to participate in this
competition. Each entrant will have a time slot of 10-minutes for presentation and 5 minutes for discussion. However, community member or guest presenter who will be doing research based presentation related to Youth will be given 15 minutes for presentation followed by 5 minutes for discussion. Dr. Pun will be awarded a minimum of 1 hour for his keynote speech. Youth participants will be entered for competition and the top three ranked papers will be awarded
Certificate and gift voucher worth 0, 5 and $ 105, respectively.

Venue: 495 Sherbourne Street (Wellesley Community Centre),Toronto, ON
Keynote Speaker:
Dr. Mahabir Pun, the recipient of 2007 Magsaysay Award for Community Leadership in recognition of his innovative application of wireless computer technology in Nepal, visiting Toronto in the week of July 19th is the keynote speaker of the conference. His visit affords us with a privilege and an opportunity to learn about his expertise and extensive work he did in the application of wireless technologies to connect rural remote villages of Nepal to the global village. His enthusiasm, dedication, devotion and contribution to the community is an incredible inspiration to our youth and Nepalese community, and to all who are working in the field of Science and Technology and Community Services across the globe. We hope his talk will inspire the Nepalese Youth in Canada to work for the development of Nepal.

Abstract Submission Guidelines
Proposal contents: The length of proposal should be between 350-700 words. With a special request to the organizer, however, a presenter can extend his or her proposal up to 1000 words. The reference section will not be counted towards the word limit of the proposal.
Review process: A three-member review panel will review the abstract and recommend (max.5) for acceptance with or without review comments on the proposal.
Proposal acceptance and rejection: Based on the opinion of the review panel, youth committee reserves the right to accept or reject the proposals.
Registration fee: No registration fee.
Audio-visual equipment: AV equipment for PowerPoint presentations will be provided.

Refreshments: Light refreshments will be served at the venue.
Funding Source: Voluntary contributions of funding through organizations from GTA and beyond, business entrepreneurs, community leaders & well-wishers for conducting the conference will be greatly appreciated.
